Dante's Inferno is an epic poem written by Dante Alighieri in the 1300s as the first part in a much longer work called "The Divine Comedy". It's not a comedy in the "ha ha" sense of the word, but comedy because it starts bad and ends well. Dante travels down through Hell, then up into Purgatory and finally Paradise....
